Outdoor Learning & Nature Therapy

Nestled within the South Devon woods, we delve into the ancient heart of Nature Therapy.
Nature therapy, also known as ecotherapy, is the practice of using nature to improve mental and physical health. It involves spending time in natural environments, such as forests, parks, or gardens, and engaging in activities that connect us with the natural world.

We connect with nature through mindful activities like sensory exploration, forest bathing, and simply being present in the woods. These experiences create a much deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us, connecting to our nervous systems, improving our mind health, and cultivating a sense of peace and tranquility.

Wellbeing in the Woods
Nature therapy offers a simple yet powerful way to enhance our well-being and reconnect with the natural world.
Our forest school is nestled deep within a tranquil woodland, providing a sacred setting for nature therapy to be woven into the fabric of our workshops. Surrounded by towering trees, vibrant wildflowers, and the gentle sounds of nature, children and adults alike can immerse themselves in the healing embrace of the forest. We incorporate nature therapy practices throughout our sessions, encouraging mindful observation, sensory exploration, and deep connection with the natural world.

Our Ethos

Here, we work with both our hands and our hearts. Every day is an opportunity to create something beautiful from the natural world, whether it's weaving a basket from willow, carving a wooden spoon, or creating earth mandalas from stones, leaves, and petals. These crafts not only deepen children’s connection with the Earth but also help them build confidence, patience, and resilience. Through these ancient skills, we also learn to care for our planet and understand the importance of working with nature, rather than against it.

A Day in the Woods with us
A day in the woods with Molly, her wolf pup, and Babushka the gypsy wagon begins with the sound of birdsong and the rustling of leaves. Fellow wildlings gather, eager to explore. Molly, with her wolf pup by her side, guides them through the woods, encouraging mindful observation of the intricate details. Sensory exploration awakens their senses and through these shared experiences, a deep connection with nature blossoms, creating a sense of sacred wonder within each wildling.

We gather around the campfire. We delve into creative workshops within our outdoor classroom. We wander in the woods and we delve into traditional crafts and ancient rituals.

The day will always end with stories and sharings around the campfire. We hope the day evokes a deeper connection to each other, ourselves and the natural world.
Nature Therapy Sessions

We are so grateful to be able to weave Nature Therapy into our forest school sessions. We believe that spending time in nature is essential for the well-being of our wildlings. We are honored to be able to guide them on this journey of discovery.

Mindfulness Walks:
Mindfulness walks are about being present while walking in nature.
By slowing down and engaging all your senses, mindfulness walks help to reduce stress, increase awareness, and cultivate a deeper connection with the natural world.

Sensory Exploration:
Sensory exploration involves actively engaging all of our senses to experience the world around us more fully. In our forest school setting, we delve into touch, listening, seeing, senses and taste. By actively engaging all of our senses, we can deepen our connection to nature and cultivate a greater sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
